About Rockspur

We are a User Led, Not For Profit, Community Interest Company limited by Guarantee. Rockspur CIC are led by people with learning disabilities for people with learning disabilities. Rockspur went completely independent in 2008 following the dissolution of County Council Day Services, having operated as a satellite unit under Codsall Day Service.

Rockspur offer a ground breaking 7 day a week day opportunity for adults with learning disabilities in South Staffordshire, Wolverhampton and Cannock Chase. Rockspur offer over 25 different weekly sessions through 2 day opportunities for Members using an incredibly powerful and effective model that is truly person centred, truly user led, from the directors to the day to day decisions. Rockspur are all about working in the right way with adults with learning disabilities ensuring individuals are in control and moving forward with their lives.

Key Events

  • 2005

    Rockspur win the Festival of Cricket adults competition, held at Cannock & Rugeley Cricket Club

  • 2008

    Rockspur go completely independent of Codsall Day Services and produce their first ever promo DVD about the service, featuring Members, parents, staff and Eric Robinson the then Director of Staffordshire Adult Services.

  • 2012

    Rockspur go truly independent of Staffordshire County Council, becoming a Not For Profit, Limited Company. Rockspur Ltd are nominated for the Guardian Public Awards held on Park Lane in London. Rockspur Ltd come a very creditable 2nd in their category, having been shortlisted from entries from all 4 countries of the UK.

  • 2014

    Rockspur Ltd produce their first ever cartoon animation DVD about Rockspur and it’s members.

  • 2017

    Rockspur Ltd open an innovative day opportunity called Milestonez for younger adults aged 18-25 based in Cannock. Using a model that has a very clear outcome led approach with a time limited framework, Members progress is clear and very well evidenced. In September Rockspur host their first ever dinner dance fundraiser at the Hawksyard Estate in Rugeley.

  • 2019

    June Rockspur win Staffordshire Cricket’s Softball Festival for Adults with Learning Disabilities, held at Rugleley Cricket Club. In November Rockspur hold their inaugural Cricket Awards presentation evening for the cricket group in partnership with Brewood Cricket Club. Rockspur Members join Brewood CC in their own right to become the Brewood CC ability team – the first ever learning disability team in Staffordshire.

  • 2020

    January sees Rockspur register as a Community Interest Company and open their first Care Quality Commission registered service for supported living called Rockspur House in Codsall. Rockspur CIC now offer a complete range of services including personal care, resulting in best value. Rockspur CIC also become members of the Staffordshire & Stoke on Trent Adult Safeguarding Partnership Board’s sub committee for Prevention and Engagement.

  • 2021

    Today Milestonez moves to new, larger premises. Goodbye Park Road you did us well to start us off but now its time for pastures new in Norton Canes. Milestonez has found its forever home 

  • 2022

    Today marks MIlestonez reaching its 5th year anniversary! Happy birthday Milestonez!
